The East Devon Area Group is one of the newest 16mm groups being formed in the latter half of 2011.
There are a number of groups surrounding the area , many covering quite large geographical areas which can involve a lot of travelling to some of their meetings.
With a number of new members moving into the area hopefully we can now arrange meetings a bit closer to home.
Two members hosted meetings in 2011 but with a number of new lines under construction and one or two others being refurbished we should have at least half a dozen lines to visit in 2012.
In addition we are very fortunate to have Pecorama in our area at Beer.
And we also run there from time to time.
This is very much an area group and we would welcome members from the surrounding groups to attend our meetings.
Our area's coastline falls entirely within the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Although suggestions that some of our members also emanate from that period are strongly refuted !
It is a popular holiday destination, as well as Pecorama at Beer there is Seaton Tramway , the Bicton Gardens railway and the Devon Railway centre at Bickleigh all offering narrow gauge interest.
If any members are planning to visit the area they are always welcome to contact the Group Co-ordinator to see if we can arrange a visit to one or more of our members lines or possibly Pecorama with prior notice. So don't forget to bring your loco on holiday as well !
